Abnormal Stop of Elevator |
Abnormal stop of elevator
during operation is to protect the passengers inside the car
safely. |
Elevator may cause injury
to life if problem occurs since it vertically moves up and down.
Elevator should be equipped
with the device that protects the problem by itself. |
Example of fault detection
device |
¨ç Governor that detects over-speed
¨è Interlock switch that detects opening of elevator door during
operation
¨é Weighing device that detects the capacity limit
¨ê Open and Reverse Detector that detects the fault of power
¨ë End-point switch that detects the excessive operation at the
top and bottom. |
Elevator control system
has several other elements except above and has several functions.
- Detect over-current |
- Detect over-voltage |
- Detect fault of brake operation
coil |
- Detect operation in reverse
direction |
- Detect fault of CPU operation |
- Detect MOTOR STALL |
- Detect over-speed |
- Detect abnormal low-speed |
- Detect fault of DOOR |
- Detect scroll |
- Detect overheating of INVERTER |
- Detect SELECTOR deviation |
- Detect fault of DATA transmission |
- Detect fault of speed detection
device |
- Detect fault of position switch |
- Detect TACHO JUMP |
- Detect fault of door switch |
- Detect fault of end-point switch |
- Detect fault of condenser charging |
- Detect error of PATTERN, TACHO |
- Detect fault of CONTACTOR contact
point (Fault of ON) |
- Detect operation of TSD |
¡Ø All these fault detection devices are designed
to stop operation immediately in order to protect the
life of passenger if the relevant part is detected to have fault.
¡Ø Stop of elevator means that fault occurs in the system of
elevator, indicating that inspection and
repair are required to prevent accidents. |

Code of Conducts if Passengers
is Locked in |
Set passenger at ease through
interphone in elevator |
Inform the passenger that there is no risk of falling
of elevator or getting choked since air is ventilated to the
elevator. |
Ask passenger not to try
to open or get outside until they are rescued. |
Check the position of elevator
¨ç Position indicator of monitoring panel
¨è Position Indicator of platform
¨é Go to the floor as displayed in the position indicator and
check whether the elevator is actually
located in the floor.
¨ê Since position indicator is turned off at the time of blackout,
check it actually.
¨ë In addition, be careful since the elevator may stop at the
floor different from that indicated in the
position indicator. |
Turn off the main power
of elevator and turn it on again to reset CPU if it is computer
control type. |
Cut off the power. |
Open the platform door by
half using the platform door key and check whether elevator
is actually located. |
Open the car door manually if the car door is not opened. |
Make sure to rescue passengers by holding the hands if there is an empty space in the lower part of car. |
¡Ø Passenger may fall down to the elevator path
at the time of rescue.
¡Ø Make sure to rescue passengers while the power is cut off,
since elevator with unstable system
may move even if the door is open. |
When it is difficult to rescue passengers since the elevator is get caught between floors. |
¡Ø This task should not be done by persons except
professional(employee of installation company)
since it may cause risk of 2nd accident.
¨ç Move up to the machine room of elevator after conducting (1)¡(5).
¨è Operate hoist manually so that elevator can be located in
door zone of the nearest platform.
¡Ø This task should be performed by over 2 trained personnel.
¨é Stop the elevator at the position as is indicated in the main
rope or governor rope.
¨ê The rescuer safely rescues the passengers in the platform.
¡Ø It is desirable to wait until the repair company arrives since
accident may occur if moving the car
with manual handle. |
Manual Operation of Hoist |
¡Ø Since this task may cause risk, it should be
performed by experienced staff with skill training.
¡Ø Do not perform this task at the no-gear type or Helical gear type
since this task is possible only at
the hoist gear with warm gear.
¨ç Make sure that power is cut off.
¨è Ask the passenger to check whether car door is closed through
interphone and to close if it is
closed.
¨é 'Staff A' inserts the manual handle to the axis of motor and
tightly holds it with two hands.
¨ê It is allowed to hold the fly wheel if it is attached at the
axis of motor, but make sure to put on the
gloves before holding.
¨ë 'Staff B' puts the opening lever of electric brake and wait.
¨ì 'Staff A' decides the rotation direction and signals "Open"
to Staff B. Staff B repeats and shouts
"Open", and opens the brake with lever.
¨í 'Staff A' carefully rotates the motor to the decided direction.
¡Ø Be careful since it may rotate by itself due to the weight
of car or balancing pendulum.
¡Ø Change rotation direction reversibly if it does not operate
in the decided direction.
¨î If it moves a little, Staff A signals "Stop" and
Staff B repeats "Stop" and loose hands to operate
brake.
¨ï Staff A checks the stop position mark of main rope or governor
rope.
¨ð Repeat ¨ì ¡ ¨ï until car comes to the stop position mark.
¨ñ Take off the manual handle and open lever when it arrives
at the position of platform. |
